A rear admiral in the US Navy, David F. Baucom has served in the armed forces for over 35 years. Outside of his professional activities, RADM David Baucom enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling. He lists Prague among his favorite destinations.

A well-preserved European capital with a history dating back over 1,000 years, Prague offers travelers beautiful Old World architecture and a thriving cultural scene. Along with venturing down cobbled lanes and through walled courtyards, visitors can enjoy the city’s many attractions, including expansive parks, castles, medieval cathedrals, and museums.

One of the most popular landmarks in Prague is Old Town Square, a part of the city that dates back to the 12th century. Originally a marketplace, the square is now home to statues and memorials that are surrounded by pastel-colored baroque houses and stunning churches.

Old Town Square also features a 15th-century astronomical clock that tracks central European, Babylonian, and sidereal time. Near Old Town Square, travelers can find the city’s historic Jewish Quarter and a number of places to shop, dine, and simply relax.
