A US Navy rear admiral based in Washington, DC, David F. Baucom has served his country for more than 34 years. Over the course of his naval career, RADM David Baucom has maintained memberships in several organizations, including the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dana Atkins, president and CEO of MOAA, accepted a $100,000 donation to the MOAA Military Family Initiative from the PenFed Foundation for a cooperative military financial education effort to launch later this year.

The MOAA recently announced that it will offer financial education programs in conjunction with military transition program coordinators.

This program will focus on different financial elements, which include new military retirement plans, strategic money management, legislative issues that concern military finances, and programs geared for military spouses. Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Shane Ostrom, MOAA certified financial planner, will serve at the helm of the program, which he hopes will help prepare service members to manage their finances once they leave the military.

Ostrom comes from a finance background and has a wealth of experience in working with clients in the areas of financial and benefits education.
